Job Description:

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Accountant II performs entry of all internal and external requisitions, travel, personal reimbursements, expense/fund transfers, orders supplies, processes P & T card charges, and processes bids/RFPs on designated department BUs; initiates entry of all transactions into college accounting system; reviews accounting transactions to ensure proper methods are used in accordance with university and state regulations; assists management in planning and budget activities; performs receiving entries and accounts payable functions for designated department BU cost centers and reconciles internal accounting system records with university DBR s; prepares monthly reports for deans, directors, and department heads; reviews transactions submitted in BASIS to ensure that they are in accordance with university, state, and federal purchasing regulations; assists in developing new accounting procedures to resolve data processing problems; communicates regularly with college staff, deans, and internal and external vendors concerning financial affairs.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* At least one year of experience in accounting or a related area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience using Quickbooks accounting software

* Experience with the University of Arkansas BASIS system, UPS, DART, and GJIM applications

* Experience using the University of Arkansas Razorbuy system

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Knowledge of accounting principals and database management

* Knowledge of software applications

* Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies of assigned section

* Knowledge of customer service techniques

* Ability to comprehend and assimilate technical and business-related documents

* Ability to apply policies and procedures and other applicable regulations associated with assigned department or program

* Ability to conduct research, perform quantitative quality assurance reviews, and prepare reports
