SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Photographer is part of a dynamic creative services team and campus photography. The Photographer, under the direction of the Manager and Assistant Manager, receives requests, meets deadlines, determines required equipment, and selects background properties, lighting styles, and other aesthetic selections, according to subject matter, materials, and conditions.
This position:

* Executes photography of public service announcements, campaigns, and special campus events and announcements by choosing locations and subjects and selecting and operating cameras and equipment during production

* Coordinates activities with staff and partners to supply images for publications, brochures, television spots, and website updates

* Produces computer digital images from film using flatbed scanners and photofinishing laboratories

* Researches new processes, computer software, and equipment for possible utilization and recommends purchases as needed

* Creates and maintains archives of photographic images created by the University Relations Photographers

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* At least three years of experience in photography, video production, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* At least two years of experience as a full time professional still photographer

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Knowledge of current photography equipment for lighting, photographing, editing, delivering, and archiving

* Effective communication skills

* Proficient skills with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and Lightroom

* Ability to direct lighting assistants and the subject being photographed

* Ability to make quick judgments and decisions because of the changing circumstances on location

* Ability to translate verbal concepts and ideas into photography

* Ability to work independently as well as work well in a team setting

* Ability to be punctual and dependable

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
The employee is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside., The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity., The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways., The employee is subject to work in close quarters (i.e. narrow aisles, crawl spaces, shafts, manholes, small enclosed rooms, sewage and line pipes) and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (schedule may vary based on department needs to include occasional nights and weekends, as required)
