SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Director of Institute will be responsible for planning and executing the residential summer training for Fellows enrolled in the Arkansas Teacher Corps (ATC) program. Primary responsibilities for this position will include coordinating and facilitating new Fellow onboarding and prework; hiring, training, and managing all ATC summer staff; coordinating on-site logistics for housing, transportation, schedules, professional events, and training; building partnerships with an Arkansas K-12 school district to provide Fellows with clinical experience; designing and assessing the summer training curriculum; monitoring the teacher training and Fellows individual progress; and managing the summer training budget.

The Director of Institute is the primary point of contact during the seven-week institute (end of May through mid-July) and must be able to live/work on-site throughout the entire duration of the institute, including most weekends.

Additional responsibilities for this position may include traveling to and observing a cohort of 5-10 Fellows classroom teaching; providing detailed oral and written feedback on lesson design, delivery, and classroom management; communicating with principals, mentor teachers, and other stakeholders regarding Fellows progress; and assisting Fellows with long-term goal-setting and monitoring progress towards goals. The ATC Director of Institute will also be called on to assist in recruitment and selection of Fellows as well as to design and facilitate professional development throughout the school year.

The Director of Institute must be able and willing to travel across the state by automobile and be available to work some nights and weekends.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* Earned bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university

* Experience teaching K-12 with a strong track record of student achievement

* Experience training, developing, and/or supporting beginning teachers

* Experience managing and/or coaching a team of adults

* Experience planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive training program
