Tax Manager will report to the Director of Financial Reporting &
Analysis and will support all activities related to tax reporting,
research, and compliance. The responsibilities including ensuring
that taxes for the corporation and owners are filed appropriately
and in a timely manner to follow legal guidelines while minimizing
tax exposure. The position will be based in our corporate office in
Fayetteville, Arkansas.Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze and summarize tax information to used for purposes of
preparing federal and state tax returns
- Assist external tax firm with completion of tax returns and tax
reconciliations
- Prepare, file, and manage all ancillary business filings like
property taxes, franchise taxes, and licenses
- Ensure company compliance with federal, state, and local tax
regulations
- Assist with tax audits by gathering, addressing questions, and
reviewing tax supporting documentation
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly tax accruals/payments
and work with key stakeholders on tax related activities (staff
accountants, financial reporting analysts, risk manager etc.)
- Support financial modeling in strategic and operational tax
planning including leveraging federal and state tax credits;
identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve after-tax
profits
- Monitor new tax rules and laws and assist with development of
related business tax strategies; will include keeping up to date
with tax changes and industry trends by participating in
educational opportunities, professional organizations/networks and
reading professional publications
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement as
it relates to company tax procedures; work with various departments
to streamline data flow and processes
- Developing solutions for potential tax issues
- Additional duties as required
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited 4-year college or
university in Accounting, Finance, or related degree or equivalent
expertise
- CPA license required
- 5+ years of tax compliance experience with variety of tax
structures
- In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
and tax laws
- Experience with evaluating tax law/legislation and assisting
with development of corporate tax strategies
- Ability to communicate sophisticated tax concepts in ways that
are meaningful to non-tax professionals
- Must demonstrate that you can work in a hands-on, team driven
environment, with the ability to manage and prioritize various
workstreams
- Strong computer skills utilizing MS Excel, Word and
PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred
Qualifications
- Corporate tax experience with public accounting firm and/or
corporate tax department
- Previous experience handling multi-state corporate
taxesPhysical Demands
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and frequently moving
small objects
- Frequently sitting for long periods of time
- Walking or standing occasionally
- This position works mostly indoors going outdoors may be
frequently required
- Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer
