SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundations Relations, the Director of Foundation Relations will help direct the overall foundation relations program for the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. The Director has responsibility for determining and implementing effective strategies designed to maximize foundation support to the University. The Director works collaboratively with faculty and academic leadership to create and implement strategies for approaching national foundations that we currently do not have relationships with; serves as a recognized campus expert in foundation fundraising, and has input on campus policies related to foundations and program development. The Director s portfolio includes many of the campus s most complex and important foundation partners. The holder of this position must be comfortable working with prominent foundation leaders and must have a successful record of building foundation partnerships and securing foundation support for complex organizations.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

* Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

* At least three years of demonstrated success as a foundation relations officer

* Demonstrated record of writing proposals for large scale, complex projects directed to foundations

* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, faculty, and University officials, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion

* Willingness to travel on behalf of the University

* Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evident in the documents provided

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education

* Five years or more of foundation relations experience at a major university

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills in building relationships with various stakeholders and interacting with individuals at all levels

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite

* Must work well in a team environment and be able to accept input as well as supervisory guidance

* Ability to be a self-starter and also work well in a team setting

* Ability to travel on behalf of the university

* Ability to be punctual and dependable
