The role of the Wound Ostomy Nurse reports to the Patient Clinical Services Manager. This position is responsible for providing education and care to patients with wounds, continence-related problems, and ostomies. This position will spend up to 100% of the time standing and/or walking short distances, with frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 100 lbs. and occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. This position has frequent exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable disease.Responsibilities
Assists in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures related to wounds, ostomies, and continence
Assessment of patient needs related to wounds, continence related problems and ostomies
Collaborates with members of the patients healthcare team to develop plan for care while hospitalized
Educates patient and/or caregiver on post-discharge careQualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas RN license & CPR, required
Experience: Two years of experience in a medical/surgical setting preferred. A working
knowledge of nursing care practice and the ability to function in a dynamic team setting,
required.
