Job Description Job Description RN Charge Weekend - MedSurg (Nights) Overview: The RN Charge Weekend - MedSurg (Nights) role involves overseeing patient care during night shifts, ensuring adherence to hospital protocols while prioritizing safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include task delegation, nursing staff supervision, patient record management, bed assignment coordination, and maintaining an inventory of medical supplies and medications. The Charge Nurse operates under the guidance of the Director and Clinical Manager, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care through the nursing process and adherence to hospital policies. This position also involves directing nursing activities within the department, assigning tasks to auxiliary and staff nurses, supervising the preparation and upkeep of patient clinical records, and assisting with performance reports as needed. The Charge Nurse addresses bed assignments and resolves various issues as they arise, while also maintaining established inventory levels for solutions, supplies, medications, and tracking narcotics. Position Details: This role utilizes the nursing process to deliver patient care and maintains professional accountability for the care provided to assigned patients. The Charge Nurse evaluates the effectiveness of care delivered by other caregivers and coordinates patient care in collaboration with other departments. Qualifications: Experience: At least 3 years of bedside nursing experience. Education: Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (associate’s degree, diploma, or BSN). Licensure: Responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license in the state of employment, including compliance with all state board of nursing requirements. Certifications: Required to possess an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course during the probationary period.
