Pharmacist Job Description As an Internal Medicine Pharmacist, you
will be responsible for interpreting orders and accurately
transcribing or verifying them in the pharmacy computer system. You
will compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, monitor drug therapy
regimens for contraindications, and provide medication information
to healthcare staff and patients. Your role includes interacting
proactively with medical staff, documenting clinical activities,
and sustaining the hospital formulary. Responsibilities Interpret
and verify pharmacy orders in the computer system. Accurately
compound and dispense pharmaceuticals. Monitor drug therapy
regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and
appropriateness of drug and dose. Provide medication information to
healthcare staff and patients. Interact effectively with medical
staff regarding drug therapy issues. Document all clinical
activities and interventions accurately. Maintain the hospital
formulary and minimize non-formulary procurements. Supervise and
assist pharmacy technicians and support staff. Participate in
Disaster Team drills and real-event responses. Lead and prioritize
work to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy.
Participate in staff meetings and staff development in
pharmaceutical care. Mentor and train new staff members. Serve as a
preceptor for pharmacy students or residents. Support quality
improvement, risk management, and patient safety programs. Maintain
professional competency to meet facility needs. Maintain controlled
substance records. Comply with regulatory standards. Make
evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations.
Participate in medical emergencies management, including Code Blue.
Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
Suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff.
Collaborate with Pharmacy Director or Operations Manager for
regulatory compliance and process development. Essential Skills
Pharmacy knowledge, including central and hospital pharmacy
operations. B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of
Pharmacy. Active Pharmacist license with the Oklahoma State Board
of Pharmacy. 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience. BLS
certification within 90 days of hire. ACLS certification for
attending Code Blue. Additional Skills & Qualifications Doctor of
Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. Preferred 1
year hospital pharmacy experience. Work Environment You will work
day shifts in a 656-bed hospital featuring specialized centers such
as The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women’s Health
Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, and the latest technology for
cancer treatment and the Oklahoma Heart Institute. The hospital
uses advanced technology to support staff and enhance patient care.
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of
Tulsa, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is
$130000.00 - $150000.00/yr. benefits start 1st day of the month
after 30 days of employment Workplace Type This is a fully onsite
