Job Description:
Full-time Description Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and
dedicated Radiology Technician and PACS (Picture Archiving and
Communication System) Administrator to join our healthcare team.
This dual role combines technical expertise in radiographic imaging
with the management and maintenance of our PACS, ensuring efficient
and accurate diagnostic imaging services. Performs a variety of
imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols.
Functions as the first line interface with customers in the
successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in
CQI activities. Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Radiology Technician Duties: Perform Diagnostic Imaging Procedures
: Conduct X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and other diagnostic imaging
procedures following established protocols to ensure high-quality
images for accurate diagnosis. Patient Preparation and Care :
Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring
their safety and comfort. Provide clear instructions and support to
patients throughout the process. Equipment Operation and
Maintenance : Operate and maintain radiographic imaging equipment,
ensuring it is in optimal working condition. Report any
malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel. Image Quality
Assurance : Review and evaluate images for quality and clarity,
ensuring they meet diagnostic standards. Collaborate with
radiologists to determine if additional images are required. Safety
and Compliance : Adhere to all safety guidelines, including
radiation protection measures, and comply with hospital policies,
procedures, and regulatory requirements. PACS Administrator Duties:
System Management : Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of
the PACS, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of the
system across all departments. Data Management : Manage the
storage, retrieval, and archiving of digital images and associated
patient data. Ensure data integrity, security, and confidentiality.
User Support and Training : Provide technical support and training
to radiology staff and other users of the PACS. Address and resolve
any system-related issues or user concerns promptly. Software and
Hardware Maintenance : Coordinate with IT and vendors to perform
regular updates, upgrades, and maintenance of PACS software and
hardware. Ensure the system is up-to-date and running efficiently.
Quality Control and Reporting : Monitor system performance and
conduct regular quality control checks. Generate and analyze
reports on system usage, performance metrics, and any issues
encountered. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure the PACS is compliant
with healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
Maintain accurate documentation and records related to system
management and operations. Requirements Professional Requirements:
Qualifications: Education : Associate or bachelor's degree in
radiologic technology, Health Information Technology, or a related
field. Certification : ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists) certification required. PACS certification (e.g.,
CIIP) is a plus. Certified by the State of Arkansas to practice and
administer radiation. Current BLS Certification. Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiology Technician with
imaging and ultrasound capabilities. Experience in PACS
administration or healthcare IT is highly desirable. Technical
Skills : Proficiency in operating radiographic imaging equipment
and PACS software. Strong understanding of DICOM standards and
radiology workflows, ultrasound experience. Communication Skills :
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability
to interact effectively with patients, healthcare professionals,
and IT personnel. Problem-Solving Abilities : Strong analytical and
problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical
issues and implement effective solutions. Attention to Detail :
High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in imaging
procedures and data management. Working Conditions: Environment :
Hospital or clinical setting, working closely with patients,
radiologists, and healthcare staff. Schedule : Full-time position
with Call responsibility, with potential for shift work, including
evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements : Ability
to lift and position patients, operate heavy equipment, and stand
for extended periods. Exposure to radiological hazard-occupational
levels. Normal hospital environment. Close visual/acuity. Hearing
within normal range. Oral communication. Operates x-ray machines
(stationary and portable), injectors, computer, telephone,
stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and patient monitoring devices.
Lifting up to 50 pounds. Carrying up to 25 pounds. Pushing/pulling
up to 400 pounds. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
