SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

The Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is seeking applications from individuals to serve as the Chair of the Department of Marketing, beginning no later than Fall 2021. The department seeks a collegial scholar who possesses a strong, active research record in any area of Marketing, a demonstrated record of excellent teaching, and a commitment to working with faculty to grow the impact of the Department.

The administrative component of the role will include the maintenance of a conducive research environment and teaching culture, in addition to stewarding the departmental resources. The Department Chair is also responsible for leading the faculty in managing curriculum related to marketing and retailing across the undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department Chair also oversees the scheduling of classes. In the latter part of the role, the Department Chair receives support from the Assistant Department Chair. The Chair also serves on the College s Executive Committee and supports the Dean and Senior Associate Dean in evaluating and supporting college initiatives. The position is a 50% administrative position. The teaching load is typically one course per year.

Additionally, the Department Chair will hold R.A. & Vivian Young Chair in Marketing, allowing for support of the Chair s research program and department need.

* Associate Professor rank or higher with tenure

* Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely related field

* Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and research

* Active research program

* An ability to lead the engagement activities of the department

* Demonstrated excellence in research

* Ability to be responsible for all administrative, budgetary, curricular and engagement activities of the department

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION

Employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, general laborer, lab personnel, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard).
