Located in Northwest ArkansasBilingual Marshallese/English and/or Spanish/English RequiredThis posting will be used to fill multiple positionsThe Bilingual Outreach Coordinator is a member of a multidisciplinary outreach and implementation team who uses a community based participatory research approach to support and provide education for the Marshallese and broader Pacific Islander community member, or Hispanic/Latinx community members through individual goal planning, case management, and group education and support.. The majority of Bilingual Outreach Coordinator work is performed within the community. Candidate must possess the ability to work at locales outside of the office environment. Ensures that study documents are translated into appropriate language and culturally appropriate for study population. Develops and adheres to quality control standards for assessment process for tracking participant outcomes. Works with team members to ensure effective implementation and performs quality checks for assessments.Participant Education:Delivers one-on-one health education to study participants regarding diabetes and other health related care, and healthy lifestyle behaviors using evidenced-based curriculum and education materialsInstructs participants on diabetes self-management practices and performs training on HbA1c monitoring.Facilitates understanding of provider instructions by attending medical appointments with client and/or reviewing provider instructions and/or handoutsEducates participants on diabetes self-management practices, healthy eating habits, and importance of exercise for diabetes patients as needed.Uses Teach Back method to assure client understandingContinuing education:Participates in regular team trainingsAttends pertinent external trainings including webinars and community education eventsShares education resources with team membersCommunicates continuing education needs with direct supervisorFacilitate group or community events:Assists with organizing and delivery health education at community eventsAssists with organizing and presenting at health fairsWorks with team members to identify appropriate events and venues to host community eventsPromotes upcoming events by sharing event details with participants, community members, and partnering community organizationsGroup Educational Interventions:Delivers group education intervention on a variety of topics, including but not diabetes self-management, HbA1c monitoring, healthy eating, recommended exercise for diabetes self-management, and other health related topics. Provides make- up educational intervention sessions for participants who are absent from educational intervention sessions.Outreach and participant recruitment:Delivers marketing and recruitment materials to churches, clinics, or other venuesProvides recruitment presentations to churches, clinics, and other venuesDelivers presentations on research studies to community members, groups, or organizations.Communicates with team members about interested parties to assure timely follow up and enrollmentMay perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of experience in community outreach, education, case management, administration or related fieldOR High School Diploma/GED with nine (9) years of experience in community outreach, education, case management, administration or related field.Additional Requirements:Bilingual English/Marshallese and/or English/Spanish. Fluent in the Marshallese and/or Spanish language and able to understand the Marshallese and/or Spanish culture.Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and current liability insurance.Must have a working cell phone.Strong relationship with local nonprofits and community organizations.This position is subject to a pre-employment criminal background check.
