SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
The Journeyman Electrician will install, operate, and maintain
power system metering, electrical protective devices, and power
system equipment controls/SCADA. The Journeyman Electrician will
have experience and knowledge in the areas of with industrial
control equipment, programmable controllers, variable speed drives,
both primary and secondary power metering devices, protective
relays, and other industrial electrical devices. This position will
have experience with industrial controls communications protocols
and/or networking is an advantage. Training will be provided for
the specific systems the University operates, however, the
candidate should have the applicable background.
In addition to the primary duties noted above, the position also
supports the operation of the campus primary 12.47 kV electrical
distribution systems. The successful candidate will receive
instruction on how to safely operate primary switchgear and medium
voltage switches to support the operations of the shop in a safe,
efficient, and skillful manner.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job
duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial,
harmonious working relationships with others.

* Completion of required education or training along with the
required license or certification in the following skilled trades:
Journeyman Electrician according to ACA 17-28-304
* The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
* At least five years of experience in the chosen field

Valid Drivers License + Arkansas Journeyman/Master Electrician
* Experience with industrial power system controls (draw out
breakers, protective relays, etc.) and exposure to medium voltage
* Experience with industrial controls communications protocols
and/or networking is an advantage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)
* Knowledge and experience in the areas of with industrial control
equipment, programmable controllers, variable speed drives, both
primary and secondary power metering devices, protective relays,
and other industrial electrical devices
* Knowledge of the methods, practices, and safety precautions in
one or more of the skilled trades
* Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to one or more of
the skilled trades
* Skilled in the use and care of tools and machinery used in one or
more of the skilled trades
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics,
building plans, and/or work drawings

worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
