This position is responsible for supervising maintenance including
predictive maintenance, equipment repair and rebuild, electrical,
refrigeration, grounds, equipment noise control and maintenance
training programs with increased complexity, drives productivity
and efficiency improvements with advanced understanding of
equipment and operational processes
Responsibilities: - Ability to manage multiple maintenance
activities. This may include multiple locations and/or multiple
departments within one site, including assisting with other aspects
or departments of maintenance (which may include refrigeration
maintenance and ammonia training, and/or automation controls as
examples).
- Supervises facility maintenance activities with increased
complexity including predictive maintenance, floor maintenance
diagnosis and repair, emergency maintenance, and continuous
improvement/optimization of maintenance processes, with a focus on
PM bases structure and downtime minimization. May attend daily DMS
meetings and executes actions items.
- Reads and interprets schematic drawings and diagrams required to
perform maintenance on or install plant equipment and retains files
of drawings, diagrams, parts list, and manuals.
- May assist with capital planning processes, short term and
long-term improvement projects, yearly budgeting processes, outside
vendors, and grounds maintenance activities. Demonstrates KPI
measures and takes proactive accountability for execution of
improvement opportunities through a strong understanding of
financial and non-financial impacts.
- May require flexibility in work schedule to provide cross-shift
facility coverage or ability to focus on project-based work
activities. Adjusts daily work schedule of employees as needed to
meet production and maintenance requirements.
- Drives engagement and applies critical thinking to drive results
to completion and implements systems that provide sustainability of
results. Serves as a change leader and proactively drives
opportunities to move operational process improvements towards
desired state.
- Serves as a mentor to other Supv Maintenance. Responsible for
supervising employees, including skills development, safety,
housekeeping, policy administration, employee relations, cost
control and problem solving. Manages employee performance, conducts
performance appraisals, and administers disciplinary action,
including employment terminations when necessary
- Reviews equipment to ensure all safety devices are properly
installed. Ensures that parts and equipment inventories remain at
approved levels. Ensures all company, state, and federal
requirements for food safety are met by maintenance employees
- May assist with managing performance of the manufacturing
facility by using reports from Plant Management, Human Resources,
Safety, Food Safety and Quality, and data from the current
Manufacturing Execution systems (SAP and OEE systems). Identifies
problems and analyzes maintenance and manufacturing reports to
drive process improvement
- Coordinates with Superior and/or other Plant Leadership to review
PM work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences
to maximize productivity. May serve as an advanced user and trains
and administers the predictive maintenance program. Plans routine
maintenance, schedules, and follows up on problems to develop
solutions. Monitors breakdowns, determine needs, assigns resources.
Keeps upper management informed of issues that affect the
performance of the department. May assist with maintenance
planning.
- Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if
applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company
mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of
conduct.
Education:High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree
preferred
Related Experience:5 plus years of experience; preferably in food
industry manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Minimum 3 years of supervision.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Must have strong knowledge and skills
in the technologies of general construction, electrical systems,
electronic systems, microprocessors, mechanical systems (e.g.,
production/process, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, hydraulics, and
pneumatics), and computerized maintenance management systems.
Working knowledge of food plant production and processing equipment
preferred. - Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety, EPA
regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferred. Must have
previous supervisor experience. - Strong PC skills including
expertise with MS Office and Outlook, SAP experience beneficial.
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and
develop line employees and lead process improvement. - Strong
communication and reasoning skills to provide a positive work
environment. - Embraces change and a culture of continuous
improvement; serves as an informal team leader among peers. -
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. -
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Must have
strong mathematical and problem solving skills in order to generate
and maintain departmental reports. - Demonstrated capability to
effectively navigate organizational systems and processes.
- May be required to be clean shaven if trained in the use of and
required to use a respirator.
- Must be capable and wiling to work any shift and be on 24 hour
call for emergency situations as necessary.
- Can effectively present topics and projects to senior leadership
in meetings
- Effective leader and facilitator of continuous improvements
activities including Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen, 6-sigma,
FMEA
