Under limited direction, supervises direct sales force in selling newspaper subscriptions; develops direct sales programs; recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates direct sales personnel; ensures correct completion of subscription order forms and weekly sales report, provides written report and follow-up of customer complaints; refers subscribers to customer service as needed; maintains record of sales, weekly sales reports, and other administrative reports; performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: --- Under limited direction, supervises direct sales force in selling newspaper subscriptions for home or business delivery by directly contacting potential and current subscribers and making a sales presentation. --- Develops direct sales programs, develops subscription sales and sales incentive programs for direct sales personnel to obtain new subscribers and to retain current ones. --- Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates sales personnel-places advertisements, contracts groups and individuals to hire sales personnel; interviews, selects, and trains salespersons; develops and approves work schedules; and periodically critiques and evaluates sales presentations of all personnel. --- Ensures correct completion of subscription order forms and weekly sales reports-makes certain written order forms are legible and accurate; ensures attention to direction, special requests, or special messages; and provides support and guidance in assisting personnel in correcting errors. (Inability to correct errors may result in termination.) --- Provides written report and follow-up of customer complaints-completes, or has completed, complaint form and forwards to Customer Service. --- Refers customers to Customer Service, as needed. --- Maintains records of sales, weekly sales reports, and other administrative reports. --- Performs other duties as assigned.
